As an experienced online marketer, you will quickly learn that you have to spend money to make money. In this example, you will see why paid marketing is almost always better than free marketing.
Let’s say that you have an income product related to an Evergreen Niche like Forex. You found this product on Clickbank, it is converting great, has a respectable gravity so you want to promote it. Remember, it cost you nothing to promote this product. In fact, the seller will give you all marketing tools to help you promote it like banners, sales copy, testimonials etc.
Now, what would you do next? You have a Facebook account so you go to facebook and you create a Facebook ad using the keywords “Forex Trading Systems”. Facebook allows you to choose PPC (Per Per Click) or CPM (Cost Per Impressions). So you set your ad based on your budget and other preferences. In this example, you choose CPM campaign. The seller is already giving you a copy to use on your facebook ads. So you copy and paste it into the ad set up page. Next, you set a bid on a certain number of impressions. Let’s say 10k impressions.
Facebook is going to show your ad only to people who have searched for info like Forex Trading or those who has shown interest in forex training in the past. These clients will be open to other affiliate products you are promoting. That’s why with paid advertising you can start to see results almost at the moment when you turn on your ad.
There are many free marketing strategies but still, the most effective one is email marketing. You might hear that email is an old fashion platform because of the smartphones and texting and because not so many people use email anymore and the younger kids don’t even have an email address. But that’s simply not the case. Let me prove it to you.
When was the last time you checked your email? Was it today? Was it in the last hour? Even with modern technology and many different apps email is still a very important way to communicate with each other online. Email can use smartphone technology and give you text or icon notification every time you receive an email. So for people who say “email is dead” well, it’s not. It’s very much alive!
Email marketing is still the most effective way to promote affiliate products for free. And the key to effective email marketing is to have a BIG subscription list. A subscription list is simply a list of people whose email addresses you have. In your personal email account, you probably have email addresses of your family members, co-workers, classmates etc.
In a business account, you are going to have email addresses of customers. In another word, your subscription list is the people who you are going to promote your affiliate products to. So, how do you develop your subscription list?
The first thing you can do to start building your subscription list is to create some kind of free giveaway. A digital product like ebook, cheatsheet, a video which you can hide behind a lead capture form. When people will be visiting your page and they will see that you are giving away for free an ebook or some kind of cheat sheet, they will be willing to enter their name and email address to receive that free give away. It’s actually a very simple procedure, but I will explain it in another post.
The purpose of this post is to help you understand the importance of a big subscription list. This is why you need both paid and free marketing strategies to promote your affiliate products. Paid methods will get people through your door right away. And that will be highly targeted people, who are already interested in the types of products you are promoting.
With paid advertising, you can make sales right away if you target potential clients the right way. Free marketing is also powerful, but it takes a little bit more time because first, you need to build your list. As a professional online marketer, you will need to use both paid and free strategy to increase the probability of making sales.
