Procrastination How To Move Forward

Procrastination is a dream killer. If you always say “I’ll do this later” you are putting your business & dreams under risk. Overcome Procrastination Now. Procrastination

How to overcome a procrastination is a question that many people ask. According to Google Search over 100K people search for the answer tho this question monthly! Before I will be able to answer this question, we should find out what causes the procrastination. In today’s post, I want to share some thoughts about it and will give you some tips on how to overcome procrastination to move forward toward your dreams.

What Is Procrastination?

A procrastination is nothing more than an inability to focus on tasks. Putting things on the “Do It Later Shelf” and making excuses to some tasks it’s a procrastination. This is a big problem for most of the people. It’s easier to say “I’ll do it later” but it doesn’t bring any positive results except a “resting time“. Unfortunately many people forget to do the tasks that supposed to be done later and that causes many problems.

Why People Put Things On The “Do It Later” Shelf?

Usually, people say that they will do things later because they are not focused at all on the task, goals and because they prefer to do something fun. For example, if you are running a business online you need to do some specific tasks to get traffic, build leads list, promote your product or services etc. but then you find a cool short movie on the YouTube. You decide to do business tasks after you watch this 5 min video. This is how you lose 1-5 hours without doing any business activity. I was talking about 5 min video, how the hell this become 1-5 hours? Well, people who created YouTube are extremely smart. They know well human’s psychology and they want people to stay on their website as long as possible. That’s why they show you “Videos you may like” after you watch the 5 min video. They put the videos that you probably can’t hesitate to watch on the right sidebar and after the video you just watched.

This is how YouTube keeps you on their website so they could earn more and more money. The highest paying industry is Entertaining because people love fun. So when you see a video that you might love probably again you will say to your business tasks “I’ll do this later” and you will watch that amazing video on YouTube.

This is just an example but the point is that people put things on the “Later Shelf” because they can’t focus. Of course, it has a lot to do with your goals and dreams, because if your vision is not strong enough that you will get distracted easily.

Responsibility

Many people became entrepreneurs too early. They are just not ready yet to run their own business. The lack of responsibility is a big problem. Thinking that some things somehow will work out is not bad, but there are some things that won’t work out by itself. Still many people don’t understand it. Believing in miracles is not bad as well, but no matter how much you believe that someday a bad full of cash will fall from the sky to your arms it will probably never happen.

It doesn’t matter if you are an entrepreneur, student or a family person. You need to become more responsible for your actions and for what you said. One of the signs of procrastination is saying that you will do something but it never happens. So before you say that you will do something, things twice. Make sure that you are able to do it even there will be 30 distractions around you.

Regret & Run

Regret could be a fuel for procrastination or a break, but it all depends on what kind of personality you have. Unfortunately, there are many people who put things on the “Later Shelf” and they never complete the tasks. This way they get stuck with unfinished business, projects and they have more and more things to do. This causes the overwhelming feeling and this leads to an escape from the present time into a fun, relax mode.

This has a big impact on your business and life. For example, you get a project from a customer but because you have a lot undone previous projects you feel overwhelmed. You need that money and you know that you need to finish that project on time for a customer to be happy but since you are simply overwhelmed you turn on the relax mode. At the end, client quits and gives the project to someone else. You had your relaxed time in front of the YouTube but now you can’t even get paid. This what helps your business or personal situation more. Watching pranks on YouTube or making that projects done so you could get paid?

Upfront Reward

I am not talking here about money. I am more focused on the self-reward aspect. The upfront reward is the dumbest thing ever. The upfront reward is when you say “I have a lot to do, so I need to relax before that. Either way, I will take a rest and a fun time after I finish this task so let’ have fun now and then focus on the tasks“.

If you read everything above, you can guess how this kind of thinking will finish. You need to reverse your thinking, you can relax, watch an awesome movie or you can do whatever you want but after you finish the tasks. If you take the reward before you even start doing the necessary tasks I can tell you that you are not going to finish that task. If you do that for sure it won’t be on time.

How To Overcome Procrastination

A ways to overcome procrastination. The simplest what to overcome this is to focus on your goals. You need to know what you want and you need to realize how many times you said that you will do something but it never happened. Think about your current circumstances and realize that the thing you supposed to do in the past could help you with getting somewhere else than a current place. For example, if your goal is to build and audience of 100K people online then think what can take you there? Resting on a sofa and watching YouTube or connecting with people on social media? But before you answer it ask you, why do you want to build an audience of 100K people. If you can’t think about anything then maybe you should create a new goal.

If you want to overcome procrastination than, first you need to know what do you want. Then you need to know why you want that and what kind of benefits your goal will bring into your life. The second thing is to realize that putting things on the “Later Shelf” doesn’t bring anything than just a disappointment and terrible circumstances. Think about this as each time you put things on the “Later Shelf” you are building your nightmare. Then decides, if you want to step into a better lifestyle or a nightmare. This is how I overcome my procrastination and I believe it will work for you too.

Be Unstoppable!
