Feeling lazy and tired? The causes of laziness are not what you think. Check my few tips for overcoming laziness for massive action!
I used to be really lazy. Whatever I attempt to do felt meaningless so I preferred to just lie on the couch and watch TV. I had many excuses but more than often I used to say that I don’t have any energy to do something. In the school, I didn’t want to study or do homework. At my first job I was doing only the minimum.
At some point, circumstances started to tell me that something is wrong. I was in junior high and I didn’t have a girlfriend, had trouble in school and somehow the laziness was boring me so a lot.
I started to look for the answer to “how to overcome laziness and procrastination” but as you can imagine I quickly quit searching for the answer because “I didn’t have enough energy to do research”. I knew that something was wrong but well, I still preferred to just lie on the coach.
As I mentioned before I didn’t study much in the school. My mother had to go talk to the principal to let me pass 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade at junior high. It was because of the English Lessons. I didn’t want to study English at all. I failed almost every test and at some point English teacher didn’t even want me to be in the classroom.
You may wonder why I talk about some English lessons in school. I will explain it in a second because this is actually very important.
As a lazy teenager didn’t have a lot of friends because I didn’t want to go out often. The only thing I wanted is to be on the couch in my room and watch TV. One day I was so bored watching movies so I started to watch a travel channel. That day the travel channels reported went to Japan. He was explaining about Japanese culture and how beautiful Japan is.
I am not sure why, but the episode about Japan got my attention. I really started to like Japan. Don’t judge me but as a teenage boy, I was thinking a lot about interacting in many ways with girls (lol). Since I fall in love with Japan it didn’t take a long time for me to start wanting a Japanese girlfriend. I wanted a Japanese girlfriend so much that I was able to do anything for it.
There was 1 big problem, the language barrier. Because if I had to look for a girl who can speak Polish I wouldn’t find. The only option for me it was to learn Japanese or at least English language. Since the Japanese language felt too difficult to learn, I went to a bookstore got 3 different English dictionaries, came back home and created a profile on MySpece.
To make the story short. I had a list of 50 Japanese girls who I was chatting with every day. After few months I was able to speak English enough to get invited to work as an English teacher at the kindergarten in Tokyo.
I knew that something changed and that I did something differently because such a lazy boy couldn’t possibly learn English in just a few months by himself using dictionaries. For 3 years I was failing at English in school so for sure something was different.
I didn’t realize what it was until I was living in Japan my 2nd year. Now I am 100% sure that The Motivation is a key to overcoming Laziness. As a young horny boy, I had big motivation to get Japanese girlfriend so that made me do the impossible. You can laugh if you want ;)
This was just my personal true story but you can learn from it a lot if you are trying to overcome laziness. If you are too lazy to work and you don’t know why you can’t finish the tasks maybe you should review your goals? I can talk a lot about healthy food and all the vitamins that give power to your body, but even if your body is super healthy but your mind in almost switched off then no matter how many vitamins you take you will not have the power to move forward.
From my experience, I can say that a Motivation is the best and the fastest charger. If you are struggling with overcoming laziness it means you are not motivated enough. Maybe you don’t really want the current goal, it will be nice to have it or achieve it but maybe it’s not the number 1 thing you want. Achieving Goals even small once may or may not help you beat procrastination. Small goals are important, but the biggest goal, the thing you really want no matter what is the key to overcoming the laziness.
People say that they are too lazy to lose weight, but gaining weight makes them depressed and even more lazy. It’s a crazy loop that brings people down. But it’s not that they don’t want to lose weight, they want to but they come up with an excuse that they are too lazy or that it’s too hard. Well, it’s not easy to lose weight, but from my experience, I think those kind of people are just not motivated enough to stand up and go walk for 1 hour. There are 2 problems that stop them from losing weight and by the way, this applies to everybody who struggles with overcoming laziness.
The first problem is the motivation as I mentioned above. Another one is believing a goal and own possibilities.
Believing that we can achieve something is one of the Secret Of Success. Once you believe that you can do something you can stay motivated all the time. People have a problem with believing in themselves and believing that good things could happen to them, that’s true. Let me ask you a question: “How come others could lose weight, succeed, create wealth, become healthy, become leaders etc.?”
Years ago I would answer “because they are looking good” or “because they have wealthy parents”. A bag of disgusting excuses. I want you to know one thing. No matter how wealthy or healthy people are they are created the same way.
They have skin, blood, bones. They eat food, take shower, they go to the toilet and they have things that they like and don’t like. The same as you! The difference could be skin color, hair color, height, weight, etc. but those does not matter.
If you just remember that everybody is born same way and everybody is the human being as you do it means that if they could do it, you can do it too. You need to believe in yourself a little bit more. I don’t care if you have disabilities or if you think that you are ugly. I can show you a bunch of people who don’t have arms, legs, or that their face is not for a cover image of a top model magazine but they still succeed in that they wanted to do.
If you want to beat procrastination, if you really want know a way for overcoming laziness you need to find some goal that motivates you and you need to believe that you can achieve it. A Joe who was a loser half of his life could succeed so there is nothing that could stop you except yourself.
Find what you want and believe that you can do it, everything else will come automatically.
